Running Home Author Visits Berkley Third Graders
(Berkley Schools, Feb. 14, 2014)
Jennifer Charron Ward, a local Berkley author, visited Angell third graders this week to talk about her book, Running Home. The book is a work of fiction loosely based on two separate events in her life that she has woven together in her story. She brought along her dog Byron, the star of the story, to meet the students as well. Ms. Ward talked about her writing process as well as working with an editor to finalize her book for publication. The students asked many questions about her book, her animals and how long it takes to write a story.
Ward’s website asks the questions: “Why is Byron running? When a puppy realizes that his dreams of a happy and loving home are not meant to be, he runs away at the first opportunity. But forces beyond this world send messages to him, and others, that he needs to return. Will going back to a horrible situation save his life, or will it destroy it?”
