Ferndale Police Report: Teens Tried to Steal Carnicholas-schrock-allstate

On 02/10/2014 at 0431 hrs, a Ferndale Patrol Officer observed a silver Dodge Intrepid in 1700 block of Channing with its four ways on. Upon closer investigation, he discovered someone attempted to steal the vehicle. The driver’s door locked was damaged, the ignition was popped out and column damaged.

A short time after, Hazel Park officers responded to a call of three suspicious males walking nearby on E. Street-Eatzz-AdHayes near Highland. Officers responded and the three suspects ran on foot. Hazel Park officers caught the three individuals. Investigation showed the three subjects were responsible for the attempted car theft.

All three suspects are Detroit residents. Two of the suspects are juveniles (16 years old); they were released to parents pending future charges. The third individual is 17 years old and was arrested.

He will be arraigned this afternoon on the charge of Attempted Unlawful Driving Away of Auto (2 ½ year max penalty).
