Ferndale Announces Extended Snow Emergency
(City of Ferndale Press Release, Feb. 4, 2014)
The Director of Public Works has declared a snow emergency for the City of Ferndale starting Tuesday 2/4/14 at 8p.m. The snow emergency shall remain in effect until Friday 2/7/14 at 4p.m. or until declared ended by the DPW Director. The extended snow emergency will allow more time for plow crews to clear residential roads. The frequency and strength of this winter’s storms has significantly depleted the city’s salt inventory. The City of Ferndale and several other municipalities continue to pursue additional salt accommodations from the Michigan Dept. of Transportation.
The City prohibits parking on city street during a snow emergency and any person who remains parked and is obstructing the facilitation of plowing procedures may be issued a $100 citation and risk their vehicle impounded.
