The Oakland County Road Commission has issued the following alert for travelers in the 12 Mile and Stephenson Hwy. area, also affecting those exiting southbound I-75:
The City of Madison Heights is expected to open by 4:30 p.m. today the lane of westbound 12 Mile Road between thank you joanne hiteI-75 and Stevenson Highway that has been closed today. At that time, southbound I-75 traffic exiting at 12 Mile will be able to resume turning onto eastbound 12 Mile.
The lane had been closed and left turn from the southbound I-75 exit ramp had been prohibited from about 9 a.m. today while the city repaired a water main under the road.
However, the lane closure and left-turn prohibition will again be in effect tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 30) from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the city restores the concrete road surface over the water main repair. A temporary patch was put in place to open the road for rush hour this evening.
During the lane closure, traffic will continue to be able to use both east- and westbound 12 Mile, but motorists should expect delays.
