The chilly, snowy weather may have some people feeling gloomy, but the folks in Rochester have found the perfect way to beat the winter blues. The 2014 Rochester Fire & Ice Festival brought hundreds of people to town to celebrate the great activities of the season. Downtown restaurants and stores had ice sculptures with a “transportation” theme, and in the area of E. Third and Water there was tube sledding, snow shoeing, dog sled rides, ice skating, music and bonfires. Inside a nice warm tent families enjoyed food and face-painting. The festival also included a 5k run, fireworks, and a pancake breakfast to raise money for Rochester Area Youth Assistance.
