For the week of January 16, 2014 through January 23, 2014

Larceny from an Automobile

400 block of N. Main, 1-18-14 – 1-19-14, 8:00pm – 11:00am: Complainant parked her vehicle in a nearby parking lot. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect stole the license plate from her 2011 Chevy Cruze. 14-2143


3601 W. Thirteen Mile (William Beaumont Hospital), 1-21-14, 2:00pm – 4:48pm: A

Beaumont employee reported she hung up her coat in the area where she works. At the end of the day she retrieved her coat and discovered an unknown suspect stole her wallet from her coat pocket. 14-2397

29202 Woodward, (I-Hop), 1-22-14, 8:00am – 8:30am: Complainant reported he forgot his cell phone in the men’sDDAsample01bathroom of the restaurant. When he returned to retrieve his phone he discovered it was stolen by an unknown suspect. 14-2472

Other Incidents

Woodward and Buckingham, 1-16-14, 8:58am: A Royal Oak officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Woodward and Buckingham. The passenger in the vehicle was determined to be a registered sex offender. Further investigation revealed the subject failed to comply with the reporting requirements under the sex offender registry law. The subject was arrested for non-compliance. 14-1709

4400 block of W. Webster, 1-22-14, 3:57pm: Officers checked the location for a sex offender who failed to comply with the sex offender registry reporting requirements. The subject was located and arrested without incident. 14-2480

25352 Woodward (L.A. Fitness), 1-21-14, 5:50pm: Complainant arrived at the gym to sign up for a membership. He left his cell phone at the customer service desk while an employee gave him a tour of the gym. While he was away from the desk a male suspect stole his cell phone. Royal Oak officers located the suspect in a vehicle in the City of Ferndale. The stolen cell phone was recovered and the suspect, 23-year-old Ferndale resident, Steven Dwayne Johnson, was arrested for Larceny in a Building.

On Thursday, January 23, 2014, Johnson was arraigned in front of Honorable Judge Brennan in the 44th District Court. He was ctechadcharged with one (1) count of Larceny in a Building. His bond was set at $2,500.00. The next hearing date is scheduled for January 31, 2014, at 9:00 am. 14-2401

4609 Crooks (First Merit Bank), 1-21-14, 5:26pm: Officers responded to First Merit bank to investigate a subject attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Officers observed the suspect in the bank when they arrived. Further investigation revealed the suspect, 49-year-old Warren resident Rose Ann Cairo, was in possession of two (2) counterfeit checks and was arrested for uttering and publishing.

On Thursday, January 23, 2014, Cairo was arraigned in front of Honorable Judge Brennan in the 44th District Court. She was charged with two (2) counts of Uttering and Publishing. Her bond was set at $15,000.00. The next hearing date is scheduled for January 31, 2014, at 9:00 am. 14-2387
