The Chaldean American Ladies of Charity will host a Charity Gala on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Shenandoah Country Club in West Bloomfield at 7:00 pm.  The purpose of the event is to assist the nonprofit in providing resources to thousands of families in need.
Community support through sponsorship, tickets and advertisements are needed for the event, which will assist CALC make several valuable services available and strengthens the community. Dalia Kejbou, Co-Chair of the event, member of CALC and principle attorney at Kejbou Law, offered, “This organization has been a Godsend to the needy.  The CALC volunteer their time to support and provide resources and sidebar01sponsorthey cannot reach their goals without the support of the community.  We are asking everyone to contribute and attend this event.”
As an example of some of the services available through CALC, in 2013, they provided: bedroom furniture, mattresses, blankets, towels, sofas, refrigerators, washers and dryers, kitchen housewares, and baby cribs to thousands of the needy families.  A food pantry provided 24,926 pounds of food assisting families facing hunger challenges.  The CALC sponsored a Christmas Family Program in 2013 where 196 people were served and provided for their tangible needs during Christmas.
Over 240 Chaldean senior citizens and nursing home patients were served in 2013 through the CALC’s caring programs.  This includes Chaldean seniors living at Chaldean Manor, Baptist Manor, McDonald essentialTowers, St. Anthony Nursing Home and Greenfield Nursing Home.
The CALC also provides services with job referral and placement, assistance with completing benefits applications, translations as well as youth mentoring programs for special needs children.
