Pontiac Man Catches Copper Thief in the Act

INCIDENT: 13:50 hrs., Jan 18, 2014 – City of Pontiac Home Invasion #14-008542
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to the 100 block of LeGrande Ave. for a B&E in progress. Upon arriving Deputies spoke to the victims (tenants) of the residence. The victims stated they were in the process of moving out and when they returned to pick up some property they noticed fresh shoe prints by the back door. When the victims approached the door two black males ran out of the house. One of the victims ran after the subjects and was able to catch one subject.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The victim returned to the residence with one suspect and turned him over to the deputies. The suspect was transported to the sub-station and interviewed by a detective. The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending issuance of a warrant. Deputies discovered copper piping and electrical wiring had been cut out of the house. A deputy found a pair of wire cutters in the coat pocket of the suspect.
