Various sources report that the pilot of a small twin-engine Cessna 310 airplane was killed when his aircraft crashed just west of the Oakland County International Airport Friday evening. According to Fox 2 News, “the scene of the accident is off North Williams Lake Road just north of M-59 near the Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area. The plane crashed in the woods beside the beach at Pontiac Lake, adjacent to the public boat launch.”
The crash occurred between 7:45pm and 8pm.
The pilot has not yet been identified and the crash is still under investigation.
Earlier in the week a Birmingham couple was killed when their small plane crashed as they headed back home from northern Michigan. Winter weather is suspected to be a contributing factor.
