This Weekend: Progressive International Motorcycle Show Novi
(Ron Arnold, Jan. 3, 2014)
The Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Novi, Michigan opens today, January 3rd. Although it’s not the time of year for riding (especially the last few, and next few days), the Progressive International Motorcycle show never fails to scratch the riding itch in the dead of winter in Michigan.
Show Features –
The show is packed with fun things to do, the least of which is to look at the manufacturer’s new products. Last year’s highlight was the local debut of the new and impressive BMW C600 Sport and C650 GT scooters. Scooters will also be in the Honda display, and most likely in the Yamaha display as well. You can never tell what local dealers might show up, too.
Even though the show is more of a motorcycle thing, if you have two wheels in your blood you will have a great time at the manufacturer’s stands. New this year is the Progressive Motorcycle Garage. It’s set up featuring a motorcycle slot car racing track, live tank painting demonstrations, t-shirt screen printing, awesome custom bikes, and Progressive Motorcycle Insurance agents on hand to answer questions for you. Also, freebies!
Then there is the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show Presented by J&P Cycles. It’s good for an hour by itself, as you will not believe the imaginative custom bikes at the show.
There is rock and roll, beverage carts, models and the Motorcycle Superstore Marketplace where you can browse the latest gear. Don’t forget the local or traveling booths as well where you can buy interesting gear at fascinating prices. Save time for the Progressive Stage and their informative presentations (most of them excellent.) Finally, and a crowd favorite is the XDL Street Jam Stunt Show, a must-see. Check the posted schedules for presentations and the stunt show and schedule your time around what you want to see.
Show Schedule –
It all starts Friday, January 3, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm
Saturday hours are 10:00am – 8:00pm
Sunday (family day) hours are 10:00am – 5:00pm
Location –
The Progressive International Motorcycle Show 2014 is located in Novi, at the Suburban Collection Showplace at 46100 Grand River Avenue. It gets a bit full around mid-day, so decide if you’d like to get there early or late if you are not a crowd person.
Despite the weather, as soon as you walk in the massive Suburban Collection Showplace, it will be worth it. The sights, sounds and yes, smells ensure that it’s always a good time at the motorcycle show.
