Man Injured in Car v. Train Accident After Ignoring Crossing Lights

INCIDENT: 21:51 hrs. Jan. 1, 2014 – City of Pontiac Car vs. Train Injury Accident – #14-000362
SUMMARY: Deputies were dispatched to the railroad tracks on Woodward near South Blvd. for a car vs. train Personal Injury crash. Deputies located the crash on South Blvd. near Paddock (West of Woodward). Deputies spoke to witnesses who advised that a truck went around the crossing gate and was hit by the train. Witnesses advised the crossing gate was down, and the lights and bells were working.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The driver of the vehicle hit by the train was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and is listed in stable condition. CN railroad police arrived and are conducting their investigation. Deputies completed a UD-10 crash report.
