Berkley Caring and Sharing Feeds 175 Families
(Berkley Public Schools, Dec. 25, 2013)
Caring and Sharing, a PTA Council initiative, was a success this year. The food collected throughout the District provided food for 175 families in the District including turkeys, bread, potatoes, apples, oranges, peanut butter and jelly, breakfast foods and a wide variety of other food. All schools collected food and money, raising close to $6,000 to cover the costs of providing food for neighbors, classmates and friends.
Elementary and middle schools conducted a peanut butter and jelly drive, a breakfast food drive and held two hat days. The student leadership class at the high school coordinated a hat day, a bagel sale and sold tickets to participate in a lunch time carnival. The biggest line at the carnival was for the whip cream pie toss game, to throw pies at BHS Administrators.
Meijer on Coolidge also gave a generous donation to Caring and Sharing. They donated $1,000 in Meijer gift cards.
