Thieves Crash Through Front of Oak Park Secretary of State, Steal ATM
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 20, 2013)
Police are looking for four suspects who drove a stolen minivan through the front window of the Secretary of State office at 10 Mile and Coolidge in Oak Park just after midnight on Wednesday. The suspects used the red Mercury minivan to knock the ATM free, and then put it in the back of the van before driving away.
Similar attempts happened in Inkster and Hamtramck last week. The van used in Wednesday’s break in was stolen from Harrison Township.
Suspects wore hooded sweatshirts with their faces obscured. The office is now temporarily “closed due to physical plant issues,” according to the Secretary of State website. For other SOS locations visit http://services.sos.state.mi.us/servicelocator/branchofficelocator.aspx.
