Participants will earn the American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification. They must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, must be proficient at freestyle, sidestroke, and breaststroke.
Certification means participants may qualify for lifeguard jobs, including those at the community center or at Troy Family Aquatic Center. The fee is $205 for residents and $215 for non-residents.
The class takes place on Dec.23, 26, 27, 28 and 30 from 9am-4pm. Plus there is a mandatory deep water class at Troy Athens on Jan. 12 from 4-6pm.
