Troy: Winter Shoe & Boot Drive to Help HomelessJudyPalmer01

(Laura Mikulski, Nov. 19, 2013)

Dr. Anthony Weinert, a podiatrist with offices in Troy and Warren, will be running a winter shoe & boot drive benefiting Grace Centers of Hope, Oakland County’s largest and oldest homeless shelter & charity providing food, clothing, and HOPE to disadvantaged individuals.  The purpose of the shoe & boot drive is to help those individuals facing hardships in their life to have adequate protection for their feet as cold winter months loom in the near future. The drive will run from November 18th through December 22nd, with shoes being collected at Dr. Weinert’s offices & other select locations.  Shoes will be distributed to Grace Centers of Hope on the 23rd, to benefit homeless and disadvantaged individuals before Christmas.

The beginning of winter for many of us means buying new shoes and boots to keep our feet warm and protected essentialfrom the harsh Michigan winter. But there are many others who are forced to walk barefoot due to economic circumstances.  Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Anthony Weinert and Grace Centers of Hope, donations of gently used and out-grown shoes and boots are being distributed to people who need them. Donating shoes is one of the most simple yet profound acts you can do, because it will greatly improve someone’s life during the difficult winter season.

People and companies interested in donating can visit Dr. Weinert’s website for more information: www.stopfeetpainfast.com.

Drop-off locations are:

230 West Maple Road, Troy and 3272 E. 12 Mile Road Suite 101, Warren
