Ferndale Woman Killed in Crash in Rochester Hills

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2013 CITY OF ROCHESTER HILLS
The Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting Deputies from the Rochester Hills Substation with the investigation of a fatal injury crash that occurred at approximately 6:50pm this evening on Dequindre south of Avon.
A 51 year old Ferndale resident was driving her 2001 Ford Taurus northbound on Dequindre south of Avon Rd. She lost control of her vehicle in a curve and went into the southbound lane and was struck broadside in the passenger side. The car that she hit was a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by a 17 year old female from Rochester Hills. There were three other occupants in her car with her. They were a 16 year old female and her 18 year old sister and their 35 year old mother, all residents of Rochester Hills.
The Rochester Hills Fire Department responded and rendered aid to all occupants. The 51 year old female driver from Ferndale died enroute to Troy Beaumont Hospital. Rochester Hills Fire Department transported the four occupants of the other vehicle to Troy Beaumont where they were all listed in stable condition.
The deceased driver was not wearing a seat belt. The other vehicle involved had seat belt use by the two front occupants while the rear occupants were unbelted.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in this crash which remains under investigation.
