Berkley’s got a new Library Director and a new way to bring folks in to enjoy a sense of community that a library can bring. On Nov. 13 they hosted the first of what they hope will be many live musical performances, attracting a standing-room only crowd.
The RJ Spangler Trio, featuring Larry Smith, was brought in by The Friends of the Berkley Public Library and the Jazz Foundation of America for a show that was free to the public.
“I’m told this is the first time we’ve done a live music concert like this one. People can expect to see more live music at the library,” said new Library Director Matt Church. “We had a fantastic night! The RJ Spangler Trio featuring Larry Smith blew the audience away. It was a real treat to have musicians of their caliber play for the library.”
