Birmingham Seaholm High Closed After Shots Fired in Robbery

An investigation is under way at Birmingham Seaholm after an early morning robbery. According to The Detroit Free Press, a maintenance man was robbed at gunpoint while entering the school at approximately 4:50am. According to the report, the robber fired a shot into the air and the employee dropped a cell phone, 
car keys and money. The employee ran and the robber fired another shot. He and another suspect took off in the employee’s car. The employee used a second cell phone to call 911.
According to the report, “An officer from the Madison Heights Police Department who heard the call spotted the car heading south on I-75. Officers chased the pair to Conant Street and Seven Mile Road in Detroit, where the suspects jumped out of the car and ran. Officers from the Madison Heights Police, the Michigan State Police, Royal Oak Police and Birmingham Police set up a perimeter in the area, and a police K-9 tracked one of the suspects to a home. The suspect was arrested but is not cooperating with investigators, according to the Birmingham Police.”
The school is closed today as the incident is investigated. Classes are expected to resume tomorrow.
