Ferndale’s Grant School Seeks Votes for Special Needs Toolstaste ad

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 15, 2013)

Grant teacher Kristy Kuhn is taking part in an online voting contest that can help her classroom get a student ball chair, Boardmaker Plus computer software and a membership to Starfall.com, a website that helps teach reading.

The contest is being done through the Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union.  Each year they have a contest to help teachers get the supplies they need. This year they are awarding up to $750.  The winner will be LindaPartonAdFerndale115chosen based on the number of online votes.  The page to vote for Kuhn’s class is http://classroomcash.org/vote?id=72.

In the request description, Kuhn said “The children (2 -5 years old) in the Early Childhood Special Education class in Ferndale best learn when they are able to be fully engaged with the curriculum. The ball chair will provide sensory input to children who struggle to sit and attend. Boardmaker Plus is software that allows for personalized activities to become interactive with animation and sound. This multi-sensory approach to learning will help support a variety of disabilities serviced in our classroom including autism, cognitive impairments, Downs Syndrome, developmental delays or physical impairments. With the proper materials in place, our classroom will be able to provide a variety of opportunities for maximum engagement.”

The top vote-getter thus far has over 800 votes.  Voting continues through Oct. 22 and participants can vote once a day.  Go to http://classroomcash.org/vote?id=72 if you’d like to cast your vote!
