Sign the Water Tower in Farmington Hills
(City of Farmington Hills Press Release, Oct. 14, 2013)
The City of Farmington Hills is providing an opportunity for residents to put their signature on the City’s new water tower tank. For a minimum charitable donation of $5, Farmington Hills residents can put their signature (maximum one foot by one foot in size) on the steel water tower tank before it is lifted into position.
The three-million gallon elevated water storage tank is located on the Division of Public Works property at 27245 Halsted Road, south of 12 Mile Road. Construction of the foundation and pedestal is now complete and the tank will be erected in November. The water tower will help to improve water system pressure distribution, increase fire flow capacity, and minimize future water rate increases by saving $3.5 million per year overall.
To be eligible to sign the water tower tank, residents may make donations to the following charities – Friends of the Rouge, The American Cancer Society, The Graham E. Smith Memorial Fund for Suicide Prevention Awareness, or the Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families. Residents should bring their donation to the DPW Building along with their name, address, phone number, and email address. DPW staff will process the donations and each donor will be mailed a tax receipt by the specific charity.
The signing event will run daily from October 21 through October 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City’s Division of Public Works located at 27245 Halsted Road. Permanent markers will be provided and residents are asked to call the DPW at 248-871-2850 to let staff know the approximate time they plan to arrive for the signing, especially for groups of five or more.
While all residents are encouraged to participate, the City may not be able to accommodate those with physical disabilities due to the nature of the construction site and the lack of access for wheelchairs and other assistive devices. For more information, call 248-871-2850.
