Ferndale, MI — Downtown Ferndale goes to the dogs on Thursday, October 17 when Fido Does Ferndale, The Dog’s Night Out, takes over the district with canine activities, vendors and doggone good fun.  The event happens from 5-9 pm and takes place throughout the downtown with headquarters set up at Schiffer Park at Planavon & West Nine Mile Road.

The Dog’s Night Out includes a canine treasure hunt featuring FREE doggie treats at more than a dozen participatingdave coulter campaign ad businesses, a Pooch Parade, dog contest and opportunities to meet and make a new best friend via several pet rescues and adoption agencies.

Organized by the promotions committee of the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority, Fido Does Ferndale is chaired by local dog lover Andrea Johns.  Ms. Johns and committee have lined up more than 20 dog-friendly vendors to set up shop on Downtown Ferndale sidewalks for the event.   Vendors will be selling organic foods, boarding and grooming, pet sitting, doggie bandanas and much more. “We are very pleased to have such a great cross-section of dog-oriented businesses coming to Downtown Ferndale.  Fido Does Ferndale fans will be highly appreciative,” Johns said.massage

Cristina Sheppard-Decius, Executive Director of the Ferndale DDA, noted “Fido is one of our most popular events.  We not only have a lot of dog lovers who live in Ferndale but they bring their friends. It really is a social gathering for the canines – and their owners, of course.”

Fido Does Ferndale also includes the musical talents of Ryan Dillaha, who will perform onstage starting at   5 pm and will help out Anna Bitzinger with event emceeing duties. Pet contests (with prizes) include Best Dressed, Pet Owner Look Alike and the always crowd-pleasing Best Trick.
