(Lt. D. Feneley, Oakland County Sheriff’s Dept, Oct. 6, 2013)

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is announcing an arrest in a case of multiple break-ins in Brandon and Independence Townships as the result of excellent work by a homeowner and Sheriff’s investigators.

On September 24, a Pine Knob Road homeowner reported that a white male rang his front doorbell, and attempted to open the door when no one answered. The homeowner yelled thru the door asking who he was looking for to which he replied “Brian.” He left after being told no Brian lived there.

The homeowner had trail cams set up and captured pictures of the subject and his vehicle. Because of recent area break-ins, a search began for the subject and his vehicle. The next day the vehicle was located by a Sheriff’s Deputy dinos02sidelogo3in the Brandon Trailer Park, and listed to twenty-seven year old Chadwick Adam Canter of Oxford Township, who also had a warrant out as a parole absconder. His picture matched the trail cam pictures. The Sheriff’s Fugitive Team and Deputies arrested the subject at his Oxford residence, where evidence of three Brandon Township break-ins was recovered.

Two warrants were issued, one out of 52/3 District Court for receiving and concealing stolen property over two hundred but less than one thousand, punishable by one year in prison. The other warrant was issued out of 51st District Court for receiving and concealing stolen property over one thousand, a felony punishable with five years in prison.

“Another solid case of heads up police work combined with a vigilant and well-resourced citizen,” said Sheriff Bouchard. “Our best partnership is always the community, combined with law enforcement partners and diligent investigative work.”

Cartner was given a $25,000 cash surety ten percent bond at each arraignment with GPA tether and drug testing upon release.
