Christine Downs Memorial Service Oct. 12

Christine M. Downs, 61, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, died peacefully with loved ones by her side on Friday, September 20, 2013, at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.
She was born December 25, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Emma (nee Beck) Boyer. She grew up in Ferndale, Michigan, and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1970. She married the love of her life, Martin F. Downs, on November 1, 1974. They remained faithful partners until his death in 1999.
Christine will be remembered, above all, for her generosity of spirit and devotion to her family. She brightened 
the lives of innumerable people, and will be missed by as many.
She is survived by her son, Martin (Zara) Downs of Meriden, New Hamphire; her brothers Burton (Lorraine) Boyer of Oroville, California, Robert (Theresa) Boyer of Yuba City, California, John Boyer of Riviera Beach, Florida, and David (Joanne) Boyer of Salem, Oregon; her sister, Catherine (John) Thompson of Greenacres, Florida; her grandchildren, Esme and Simon Downs; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and longtime friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 West Maple Road, Birmingham, Michigan, on Saturday, October 12, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Randall Schlak officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather after the service at Bayview Yacht Club, 100 Clairpointe Street, Detroit, Michigan.
