Senate Passes Anti-Gas Chamber Bill for Animal Shelters

…gas chambers are still in use in four SE Michigan County-run shelters: Branch, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties. Most shelters use lethal injection to put down sick or unadoptable dogs and cats.

The bill will now move on to the House of Representatives for a vote.

Clinical Relief Case Continues: Charges Reinstated

The charges had been dismissed, but Oakland County Clerk Jessica Cooper appealed. The Court of Appeals issued their determination Sept. 10, reinstating charges and sending the case back to the Circuit Court level. Charges are related to possession and intent to distribute marijuana.

Annual Perennial Exchange Saturday

There aren’t many places where Mother Nature has a good return policy, but here in Ferndale the annual Perennial Exchange gives residents a chance to dig up the plants they don’t want and trade them with other gardeners for some they may like better. The annual event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14.
