Three Candidates for Ferndale Mayor So Far
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 9, 2013)
The competition for the Ferndale Mayor’s seat is heating up this week as Craig Covey has officially turned in his petition to run. Covey, who is a former councilperson, former mayor and former county commissioner, has a long record of holding public office. He is going up against current mayor Dave Coulter, who also has a long record that includes council and county commission positions. Sherry Wells, a community volunteer who can often be heard at call to council during city council meetings, is also running.
There are also two open seats on city council, and it seems that there will only be two people running: incumbent Melanie Piana and community volunteer Greg Pawlica who also serves on several boards and commissions.
Details about the candidates will be available as we put together our 2013 campaign page. We expect to receive the official candidate list from the City Clerk next week.
Each person running has been featured in Ferndale 115 News stories over the past few years. To read previous stories, do a search for “Ferndale115.com” and the candidate’s name.
