(C. Proxmire, July 27, 2013)

On Saturday July 27, ten-year-old Alexandria McDonald of Oak Park will be at Geary Park from noon to 4pm collecting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project. As part of her Girl Scout commitment to community service, McDonald is collecting clothing, toiletries, back packs, gift cards and cash to be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.  The project aims to (1) raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the dinos02sidelogoneeds of injured service members, (2) help injured service members aid and assist each other, and (3) provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

McDonald has also teamed up with Dino’s Lounge and Treat Dreams in her collection effort. Both local businesses are now drop-off sites for donations through the weekend.  Dino’s will be providing his delivery truck to help the young lady bring the donations to Andrews Air Force Base on July 29.

Last weekend Dino’s Lounge had a benefit concert for the Wounded Warrior Project as well.  To learn more about Wounded Warriors go to http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
