Heat Advisory Declared, City Opens Cooling Center at Kulick

A Heat advisory was declared by the Office of Emergency Management in Oakland County this morning. In response, the Kulick Community Center has been opened as a public cooling center for Tuesday, July 16th between the hours of 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 17th between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Kulick Community Center is located at 1201 Livernois, Ferndale MI 48220. You may contact the center at 248-582-3366.
Folks who need a break from the heat will need to check in and out of the Kulick Center with the administrative staff upon entering the facility. Once checked in, staff will help you to one of several designated rooms and areas for cooling off.
The Kulick Center does not provide food or refreshments, but is equipped with vending machines and drinking fountains for those seeking snacks or quick drinks. Guests are welcome to bring in their own refreshments while they cool off. Those who choose this option will be directed to a room dedicated for dining. Alcohol is not permitted.
The Kulick Community Center is not equipped to handle medical emergencies or serious conditions. Residents and visitors concerned about their health should dial 911 in case of emergency, or contact their physician or local hospital for assistance.
