Former Superintendent William G. Coyne Passes Away

William G. Coyne, age 78, of Port Sanilac, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Port Huron.
He was born December 10, 1934 in Dearborn, son of the late Emmett & Virginia (Venners) Coyne. He and Gail Ann Hollenback were married June 24, 1961 in Ferndale.
Bill was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Sanilac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was Superintendent of Schools in Ferndale, and then he served as Superintendent of Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools for 6 and 9 months separately. He was the chairman of Sanilac District Library and was involved in several fund raising programs in Sanilac Co.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gail of Port Sanilac; two sons, James (Tammy) of Savage, MN & Michael (Debbie) of Portland, MI; six grandchildren, Tristan, James, Jr., Nicholas, Trenton, Katie & Tyler; and one great grandchild Elijah.
He was preceded in death by a brother Jerry.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Wed. April 3, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Sanilac. Fr. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Inurnment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 – 9 PM Tuesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington, and 10 – 11 AM Wed. at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
