Volunteers Needed to Read to Roosevelt Kids Fridaygallowaycollens

(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 12, 2013)

Celebrity Reading Day is a big deal at Roosevelt Primary (2610 Pinecrest).  This annual tradition brings in grown up from throughout the community to read a children’s book to the youth.  It helps get them excited about reading, and it’s fun for the adults too.

This year’s Celebrity Reading Day is Friday, March 15.  But there aren’t enough readers signed up.  Principal Dina Rocheleau is hoping to recruit some more people to come in.  Bring a children’s book from home, or they DDAsample02have a bunch that you can choose from.  It generally takes about 20 minutes.

Past readers have included police chiefs, city council members, mayors, judges, local business owners and more.  But everyone is a celebrity to youngsters, so don’t be shy about signing up!

Check out the video below to see former Mayor Craig Covey reading to a class, and contact Dina ASAP at drocheleau@ferndaleschools.org if you’d be interested in signing up! There are still many times available through the day!
