Focus groups have been planned for several school groups to give parents and community members an opportunity to share their views about the Ferndale Schools with the Strategic Planning consultants from Project Innovations.

In March, the focus groups planned include parents of students at the elementary schools, elected officials from the district’s four municipalities, realtors and Ferndale Chamber members, and school improvement team members.

Plans are also underway, in collaboration with the Ferndale Schools African-American Parent Network, to host a focus group for the African-American community in April.  We want to know what you think.

There will also be an opportunity for individuals to participate in a survey that will contributegallowaycollens information for the Strategic Plan. In partnership with the School Improvement Team, the Strategic Plan Steering Committee is requesting that individuals from the community at-large (not district parents or employees) complete a survey on the school climate. The Community Survey is accessible via this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2Y5MY8Z.

The Community Survey is also a required component of the Ferndale Schools district wide School Improvement Team process, and is mandated by Title I grant funding. The feedback from the community at-large is important to understand the impact the district has on the community, the involvement of community members with the district, and the views of the community toward the district.

Participating in a focus group may be one of the most important contributions parents make to their children’s education and the future of the Ferndale Schools. Please share the information below and invite others from your school or group to participate in the upcoming Focus Groups as part of the district’s Strategic Plan essentialprocess.
