The officers discussed the matter with Stanfield and gave him the opportunity to return to the restaurant rather than pay the bill. As the officers stood next to Stanfield, he put the car in gear, turned into the traffic lane (causing the officers to move or be run over), yell an obscenity at them, and sped off. Officers pursued as Stanfield fled at high rates of speeds through Detroit streets…
