Police Report: Armed Robbery Arrest

(Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police, Feb. 10, 2013)

On Feb. 9, 2013 at about 9:00 p.m. a 52 year old man was robbed in the parking lot of the Stop & Go located at 1365 E. 9 Mile Rd. in Ferndale.

The victim was approached by the robber (a 40 year old b/m, Detroit resident) who had a revolver and demanded money and a cell phone from the victim.

The victim believed the robber was driven by another accomplice driving a red pick-up truck.

A few hours later, Madison Heights had two citizens robbed at gunpoint. The description of the robber and the getaway vehicle matched those from Ferndale’s robbery. Madison Heights police spotted the suspect vehicle and the driver fled south onto I75. Ferndale and Royal Oak police joined in a pursuit that ended in Detroit when two suspects bailed out of the pick-up and ran on foot. Both suspects were apprehended and are now in custody.

The investigation continues with Madision Heights and Ferndale working together. I will not be able to provide more information until the investigation is complete and the case has been reviewed by the prosecutor’s office.
