A school superhero is someone who spends their days reaching out to young people and helping them lean and succeed.  The United Way and General Motors recently partnered with the Madison Heights School District, and as part of their grant they are recognizing “School Superheros” like Madison High Assistant Principal Christian Reid_Sally_115Mueller.

Mueller recently was promoted from teacher to Assistant Principal, a move that enables him to help more children and provide support for teachers.  However, he sometimes misses teaching, and wishes he could “jump into a classroom” and start lecturing.

His energetic spirit was captured in a short video that was made as part of the United Way/GM grant program.  In the video Mueller explains his love of education, and some of his students gush over what a great “superhero” he is to them.  The video is part of an article in BLAC Magazine that features superheroes each month.

Mueller has lived in Ferndale since 2007 with his wife Nancy, who serves on the Ferndale School Board, and sons Connor, Finn and Sage. Watch the short profile below, and check it out on BLAC Magazine at http://www.blacdetroit.com/BLAC-Detroit/GM-Superheroes/.
