Taco Bell Rebuilding in Ferndale x 2
(C. Proxmire, Nov. 14, 2012)
Site plans, including drive thru plans, have been approved for the tear down and rebuild of both of Ferndale’s Taco Bell locations. Fortunately for those who enjoy a run for the boarder without leaving town, the projects will not be done at the same time, so that one of the locations will be open while the other is under construction.
The location at 21900 Woodward will be demolished and rebuilt first, from approximately March 2013 to June 2013. The construction at the 1045 West 9 Mile Road location is expected to begin in June when the Woodward location is complete. The West 9 Mile build will coincide with the road construction being done by the city to transform that section of the street.

The Taco Bell rebuilds will feature the same design features at both locations, including new signage which confirms with current City of Ferndale code, outdoor seating areas, bike racks, rain gardens, and facades of brick and stone. To address resident concerns the owners and the City worked together to make sure dumpsters were more enclosed and away from residences, that lighting issues were addressed, and that speaker placement was as considerate to neighbors as possible. The walls between the businesses and the residences will also be made taller at the West 9 Mile location.
