Teacher Bess Hysni Passes Away
August 5, 1936 – November 10, 2012

Bess Hysni (nee Negip) was born on August 5, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. Her proud parents were Faik and Sadije Negip and they were of Albanian descent. She died on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was 76 years of age.
Bess was a resident of Orchard Lake and West Bloomfield, Michigan for 48 years and former resident of Detroit. She was a graduate of McKenzie High School in Detroit. She was married at age 17 and went on to have the first of her 5 sons at the age of 18, all while pursuing her undergraduate and master degrees in education at Wayne State University, while most of the women of her era were stay-at-home moms. She went on to have a remarkable teaching career at Ferndale High School that spanned 48 years. She is truly a teaching legacy at that school. She was the former head of the National Honor Society and former member of the Rotary Club.
Bess was an avid sports fan, especially all sports related to the University of Michigan (in particular mens’ basketball and football) and the Walled Lake Central mens’ basketball teams as well as the Cranbrook men’s basketball teams. She was so very proud of her 13 grandchildren, especially their kind hearts, sharp minds and their athleticism. She enjoyed bowling and golf and immersed herself in her Albanian and American heritage.
Bess was the beloved wife of the late Aliqemal “Alan” Hysni M.D. and they were married for 48 years. Dear mother of Blair Hysni (Lisa), Edmund Hysni (Nuha), Craig Hysni (Tricia) and the late Louis Hysni (Kim) and Kevin Hysni. Loving and devoted grandmother of Blake, Brittany, Tiele, Dylan, Grant, Hunter, Quinn, Jacqueline, Gabrielle, Nicolette, Dean, Seth and Ross.
The Hysni Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 5-8pm and Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 2-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward, Royal Oak, Michigan.
The funeral service will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11am at the funeral home.
