Some people don’t like to play in the rain. But fortunately here in Ferndale there are plenty of folks with an adventurous spirit, and many of them came out for the Annual Hilton Fall Festival on Oct. 13, 2012 despite the weather.
Organized by Ferndale Recreation and the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce, the event gave families a day’s worth of fun. A Halloween costume contest took center stage, surrounded by vendor booths and kiddie games with candy prizes. A delightful baby dressed like a flower won cutest costume. A bride won best dancer. A skunk won for best pet costume, and an Air Force cadet with break-dancing skills won for best overall costume.
Kids and adults enjoyed a hayride, and youngsters played on several inflatable attractions. The event was created in 2009 to help showcase Ferndale’s east side of town, and it’s sponsored by several local businesses, with Garden Fresh Gourmet being the largest named sponsor.
