(C. Proxmire, Ferndale 115 News, Aug 21, 2012)
This weekend The Ferndale 115 News got a special view of our fair city, from 1350 feet above in a Cessna airplane thanks to retired Ferndale Police Chief Mike Kitchen and his pals at the Warren Flying Club.
When interviewed last November (see https://oaklandcounty115.com/2011/11/26/chief_kitchen/), Kitchen promised the 115 a ride. When better than the busiest day of the year, the Woodward Dream Cruise?
Here are some of the best pictures taken from inside the tiny airplane. In the coming weeks we will also post our pictures from Detroit and St. Clair, plus Dream Cruise photos from our neighbors to the north.
For frame of reference keep in mind that Como’s and Pizza Hut are both prominently red, and most of these pictures were taken from our flight headed north above Woodward. Click on photos for larger versions.
To check out our Dream Cruise coverage, including pictures from the Fire ladder and a video about the event, go to https://oaklandcounty115.com/2012/08/20/2012-dream-cruise-video-and-pictures/.
Kitchen said the Warren Flying Club is always looking for new members who are interested in learning how to fly or in flying in a social atmosphere with super shared equipment. Go to www.warrenflyingclub.org for more information. For those that wonder what the Chief has been up to since retirement, he still lives in Ferndale and has been enjoying flying and spending time with his grandchildren.
