Ferndale Public Library Seeks Local Visual Artists And Photographers For Inaugural Exhibition
(FPL Press Release, Ferndale 115 News, July 21, 2012)
Local artists and photographers seeking to make fresh connections with the community in vibrant, lively spaces will have the opportunity to exhibit at the Ferndale Public Library in its first group exhibition this coming September. The Ferndale Public Library Arts and Exhibitions Committee is seeking artists for an exhibition running from September 10 to October 5. Selected artists will have their works displayed in library community meeting room and atrium.
The community meeting room is located at the front of the library and hosts programs, concerts, lectures and study groups. The atrium is the glass, two-story area at the library’s west entrance.
The Committee does not charge a commission and will not be involved in the sale of any artwork beyond providing interested buyers with the artist’s provided contact information. Artists who sell work from the exhibit are encouraged to make a modest donation to the library.
All the information needed to submit art for the inaugural exhibition can be found on the art page of the library’s website: http://www.ferndale.lib.mi.us/index.php/art
FPLArts@ferndalepubliclibrary.org. Entries must be received no later than 11:59pm on
Saturday, August 18, 2012. Artists will receive notification of their submission status (accepted or declined) by August 25. The Art and Exhibitions Committee is also accepting submissions for future solo or collaborative shows in the Community Meeting/Atrium spaces. These proposals can include three-dimensional art, as well.
In addition, the Art and Exhibitions Committee will accept, as part of an ongoing process, proposals for future solo or collaborative shows in the separate Corridor Gallery. This exhibition space occupies one of the former windows of the original library facade, in what is now the entry hallway of the building. There are eight (8) acrylic panels for the display of works on paper. Submissions should follow the same instructions as above, found on the library’s website http://www.ferndale.lib.mi.us/.
The Ferndale Public Library Art and Exhibitions Committee’s mission is to promote and foster an appreciation of two and three-dimensional art for library patrons, through exhibits, lectures, and an expanded collection of art books.
