Just before 2:30 am on Sunday someone kicked in the front door to Mae’s at 24060 Woodward Ave.in Pleasant Ridge, just north of Ferndale. The thief took the cash register, which was later found, emptied, in a nearby back yard on Amherst.
Owner Sean McCarthy said they got a late start this morning, but they are open for business. They have been loaned a cash register to use and will need to replace the front door, but all in all there was no other damage and no one was physically hurt.
The suspect is still on the loose, and police are working with the security company to obtain video footage of the break in. Anyone with information, even seeing anyone in the area at 2:30 Saturday, should contact the Pleasant Ridge police at 248-541-2900.
