FernCare Receives Grant from Metro Health
(FernCare Press Release, Ferndale 115 News, June 1, 2012 ed)
FernCare Free Clinic was awarded a $5000 grant from the Metro Health Foundation of Detroit! The award was presented at an awards breakfast on Friday, May 11 at the Detroit Historical Museum.
This award will support creating additional clinic sessions. “We have not seen the need for free or low-cost health care diminish since we opened in August, 2010. We are constantly looking for the means to open new clinic sessions to address the need for health care in Ferndale and surrounding communities. This grant will help us tremendously,” said Ann Heler, President, Board of Directors.
Metro Health Foundation specifically funds health care initiatives with an emphasis on primary health care for people in metro Detroit, and more specifically, for people at risk within the metro area.
FernCare Free Clinic provides medical services to people between the ages of 19 through 64 who have no health insurance. The clinic is community created and serves people from Ferndale and surrounding communities. To learn more about FernCare; www.ferncare.org.
