Green Party Presidential Candidate to Speak at AJ’s on Monday

(Crystal A. Proxmire, The Ferndale 115 News, March 1, 2012 ed.)

On Monday, March 5, 7:30 pm- 10 pm Green Party Presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein will be at AJs Café at 240 W. 9 Mile for a meet-n-greet.

Stein is a mother, housewife, physician, longtime teacher of internal medicine, and pioneering environmental-health advocate.  She is from Massachusetts, and is going up against comedienne Roseanne Barr, Kent Mesplay of California and Harley Mikkelson of Michigan for the Green Party’s Nomination.

She is the co-author of  In Harm’s Way: Toxic Threats to Child Development, published in 2000, and Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging, published in 2009. The first of these has been translated into four languages and is used worldwide. The reports promote green local economies, sustainable agriculture, clean power, and freedom from toxic threats.
Music for Stein’s visit will be provided by Jon Berz of Songs From The Moon.  “The Green Party is not just about hugging trees–they are about returning power to Main Street,” Berz said.

The event at AJ’s is free, though donations to Stein’s campaign will be graciously accepted.  Find out more about Stein and her campaign at http://www.jillstein.org/. For more on The Green Party in Michigan, see http://www.migreens.org.
