Police Report: Cell Phones and Park Benches Stolen

Radio Shack Employee Wanted for Theft of  $11,000 worth of cell phones:

Ferndale Police are looking for DELEN ANTHONY HARDY, B/M, 21 years old, reported to live in the Bonneview Apartments on 8 Mile near Telegraph.

On 02/29/12, Officers responded to Radio Shack on Woodward near 9 Mile on a report that a former employee stole 20 cell phones valued at over $11,000. According to the store manager, Hardy was at work on February 28th, and left early. He left the sales area of the store and was not seen by other employees for a long period of time. Hardy apparently went into the storage room and stole cell phones. The theft was recorded on surveillance video.

Park Benches Stolen:

On 02/29/12, Ferndale Police responded to a call on the east side of town at Pickle Park, alongside of the railroad tracks, for a larceny of park benches. By the time police arrived, two white male suspects in their 20’s had already fled in an older red pickup truck.

The DPW was advised of the theft. They state that they have had several aluminum benches stolen and that they plan to replace the benches with wood. Estimated value of the benches is $1,000.

UPDATE MARCH 7:

At about 12:20 a.m. today, DELEN HARDY was arrested in Detroit. A tipster phoned Detroit Police and told them he saw Hardy near the corner of  Woodward and Milwaukee. The tipster said he recognized Hardy from seeing his picture on a television news report.

Hardy was arraigned today and Magistrate Brennan set bond at $10,000 cash/surety.
