In Sterio, a unique fusion of classical flute playing and mainstream music, will present a concert and workshop February 26 at 3:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Ferndale. This event is presented by the Southeast Michigan Flute Association (SEMFA), and is sponsored by Flute Specialists, Inc.
In Sterio flutists Shivan Dohse and Erica Peel have an inimitable gift of incorporating impressive flute playing with diverse and eclectic music that is both innovative and entertaining. Their performances have been described as “creative” and “electric”, noting that “the artists moved with stylistic verve”, and “brought the house down and everyone wanted to hear more!” Among the styles they have integrated and embraced are Irish/Folk, R&B, Funk, Country, Rock, Pop, Trance, Classical, World and New Age. Their sound has been described as “two flutes-one brain”, while performances have been praised as “spell-binding” and “awe inspiring”. Some of their work can be viewed on YouTube.
Founded in 2007, In Sterio has made their mark across the country inspiring young and not-so-young musicians to find their own creative voice. Their diversity contributes to their popularity among classical and rock musicians alike, allowing them to feel equally at home in bars, theatres, schools, galleries and concert halls.
