On 2/13/12 at 0052 hours a Ferndale Officer was patrolling west on W Eight Mile passing Laprairie when he saw a black Jeep Liberty approaching Eight Mile. He slowed and pulled to the curb just west of Laprairie. The driver of the Jeep drove over the center median and fled east on Eight Mile and south on Woodward where the officer caught up to the car. The vehicle was reported as stolen out of Detroit on 2/12/12.The pursuit involved high speeds and driving against traffic. The pursuit continued east until the vehicle crashed into 6016 Seven Mile in Detroit. Five subjects fled from the vehicle. Two juveniles and a 17 year old b/m were arrested. They have all been released and a warrant is being sought for the arrest of the driver. It appears the occupants were out looking to steal another vehicle when they were caught.
Still at large is suspect Terrance William THOMAS,[b/m 18, 02/13/94 (today is his birthday), resides on Helen St. in Detroit].

SUMMARY: On 02/12/12 a Ferndale Officer stopped a 2012 Chrysler for speeding on Eight Mile near Allen. The driver Michael Christopher THOMAS, (b/m, 27 yrs, Detroit resident) provided the false name of Erik Thomas and fled the scene when the officer asked him to exit the vehicle. The officer pursued the vehicle into Detroit and Thomas bailed out of the vehicle in front of 20255 Santa Barbara. After a foot Pursuit Officers arrested Thomas on Norfolk near Monica. A check on Thomas revealed he had a suspended driver’s license and has been convicted of driving on a suspended license previously. He is also a parole absconder. DWLS: Thomas is currently suspended 7x and was last convicted of DWLS on 10/12/09 out of Port Huron.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Thomas is a parole absconder from the Lansing Tether Unit for Dangerous drugs, OCA:p522264. A Hold has been placed by the Michigan Deptment of Corrections.
CHARGES: THOMAS will be arraigned this afternoon on the following charges:
COUNT 1, being the driver of a motor vehicle to whom was given a visual or audible signal by hand, voice, emergency light, or siren by Officer Frazier, a police officer who was in full uniform and the officer’s vehicle was identified as an official police vehicle, acting in the lawful performance of his duty, directing the defendant to bring his motor vehicle to a stop, did willfully fail to obey such direction by attempting to flee or elude the officer; contrary to MCL 257.602a(2). [257.602A2]; Contrary to the statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the People of the State of Michigan. And it further appearing that on February 7, 2006, said defendant was previously convicted of Third-Degree Fleeing and Eluding, in the 31st District Court, Port Huron; Therefore, this violation of MCL 257.602a constitutes second-degree fleeing and eluding.
