Joe Reilly Sings for the Solstice at FPL
(Crystal A. Proxmire, 12/22/2011)
Sing-a-long star Joe Reilly helped welcome the Winter Solstice on Dec. 20, 2011 with a special performance at the Ferndale Public Library along with Jillean McCommons (better known to the kids as Ms. Jillean). The Library was packed with kids and parents singing songs that got them moving, singing, and learning.
“I sing for people of all ages, original songs that celebrate our inter-connections with the earth and with each other,” Reilly said in a previous Ferndale 115 article. “My performances are interactive and educational.” The 33-year-old singer/songwriter grew up in Kalamazoo and currently lives in Ann Arbor. Since 2001 he has regularly produced CDs that combine his love for the world with his love for music. And his easy-to-follow folk songs get kids (and adults) in the mood for recycling, planting seeks and caring about nature.
