Blues Festival Looking for Sponsors and Venues
(Crystal A. Proxmire, 12/22/2011)
The 11th Annual Ferndale Blues & Music Festival is in the planning stages, and organizers are seeking venues and sponsors to make this year’s event better than ever.
The Festival runs from Jan. 27- Feb. 4, 2012 and will take place at bars, restaurants, churches, comedy clubs, coffeehouses and other locations through the city. Typically there are over 20 venues. The week ends with the Rib Burn Off behind Dinos. All in all this annual tradition raises over $20,000 in proceeds for local charities. This year’s charities are Ferndale Youth Assistance and Michigan AIDS Coalition.
Concerts and events take place all over town. Money is raised with cover charges, sponsorships, and donations put into the blind blue pigs at each location.
“This year we are expanding it to include different types of music,” said Blues Festival Co-Chair and Oakland County Commissioner Craig Covey. “That way it gives some variety and a chance for more folks to get involved.”
Sponsorships range in cost from $250-$5,000. Bud Light has already secured naming rights. Blue Care Network has come in at the BB King Level, Buffalo Wild Wings is at the Alberta Adams level, and SoHo is at the “I Got the Blues” tier. Businesses in Ferndale and beyond are welcome to sign up and support this event.
There is still time to sign up to be a venue as well. For more information contact Monica Mills at mmills@michiganaidscoalition.org.
