Bruce Baron’s Holiday Light Walk
(Crystal A. Proxmire, 12/20/2011)
By day, Ferndale resident Bruce Baron is an Inventory Analyst in Farmington Hills, but by night and by weekend he is an adventurous photographer who takes pictures in Ferndale and beyond.
Last weekend he journeyed around his neighborhood to appreciate the holiday lights. “Most are from the west side of Woodward from Fielding in the south to Woodland in the north and Pinecrest in the West. A few are on the east side of Woodward but not many,” Baron said. “I travel. Folks seem to love my vacation pictures from Brazil, Italy, Spain, Colombia, Iceland and Greenland. So, I thought I would treat Ferndale the same way in 2011 as if I was walking the streets in Paris or Rome.”
An interesting moment when photographing, he said was when “One guy came out to see what I was up, to taking the Christmas photos, pointing at houses in the dark. But once he figured out that I was not a peeping Tom he was very friendly.”
Baron will be enjoying Christmas here in Ferndale, but is looking forward to giving his camera more use when he goes to Cuba in February.
Holiday Lights are a big tradition here in Ferndale, with the Beautification Commission giving out the Holiday Light Award each year.
