Despite the deceptively warm weather, winter is coming and it’s time to get Downtown Ferndale lit up and decked out for the holidays. On Thursday, Nov. 17 Downtown Ferndale will have a Light the Town event from 6-9pm along W. 9 Mile Road.
Twisted Shamrock (276 W. 9 Mile) will be serving wine and refreshments and offering 15% off any one item beginning at 11am. Across the street at Elegance by Design(231 W. 9 Mile), Thornetta Davis will be performing. According to her website, www.thornettadavis.com, “Thornetta has opened for legendary blues and R&B greats such as Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Johnnie Johnson and many more.” She has won over 20 VH1 Music Awards, and in 2001 was inducted into the Detroit Music Hall of Fame.
AJ’s Music Café (240 W. 9 Mile) will also have a Beatles Tribute Band, also called The Beatles.
At 8pm, the Music Messengers will lead a walk through Downtown Ferndale with their fabulous marching music, and of course the Department of Public works has the City’s holiday lights up and ready to shine.
