FernCare’s Holiday Wish List & Bowl-a-Thon

When the community came together to raise money for a free health clinic, it took a lot of work by many individual donors, businesses, and volunteers. Now as they are approach their first winter serving those in need, FernCare must continue to raise money and acquire supplies in order to keep the free service going.
The clinic sees patients two Saturdays a month, and each of these sessions costs an average of $1,600.00, with their mainly volunteer staff helping 25-35 patients each session. Money is always a necessity, and donations are always accepted. But even donations of other items can keep the clinic going.
Gifts can be mailed to our business address: 445 W. Woodruff, Hazel Park, Ml, 48030 or Dropped off at the clinic any 1st or 3rd Saturday of any month between 9 am and 12 noon
Monetary donations can be mailed to our business address or through PayPal on our website homepage at www.ferncare.org.

2. A set (with dispenser) of pharmacy warning labels
3. Prescription vials – 8, 13, 20, 40, 60 dram sizes
4, Monetary donations dedicated to purchase prescription labels for our new software system.

We have a Board member who is really, really good at using a combination of gift cards and coupons to purchase clinic supplies
And of course always the very obvious…….money
One of the ways FernCare raises money is with fundraisers. Often musical or recreational in nature, those who support the clinic often get together and celebrate with community spirit. FernCare’s Third Annual Bowl-A-Thon to be held on December 4, 2011 at Luxury Lanes in Ferndale.
The way it works is simple: collect $60.00 or more from you friends, family, coworkers, etc, $5 each, $10 each, whatever they want to pledge you. It adds up quickly. Then you get to bowl 3 games of no tap (9 pins on first ball means a strike!), free pizza (Luxury Lanes has the BEST pizza!), snacks and, non-alcoholic beverages. It also includes shoe rental and ball use if needed. There’s also a 50-50 raffle, with prizes through bowling and prizes for high games and pledges.
