Police Report: Armed Robbery at Wendy’s
(Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police Department, 10/11/2011)
(Note that suspects have not been convicted of these crimes. This is a statement from police)
On 10/08/2011 at 0057 hours, Ferndale Officers were dispatched to 22555 Woodward, Wendy’s Restaurant regarding a armed robbery that just occurred.
The manager of the restaurant promptly phoned police reporting the robbery and giving a description of a gunman with a pistol. Police were in the area and right after the dispatch noticed a Pontiac Grand Am with an improper plate driving on Saratota / Allen from the area of Wendy’s.
Officers stopped the car and found a suspect matching the gunman’s description (Markwease Alexander BOZE) riding as passenger in the vehicle driven by Christopher GRAHAM. Inside the car, the police recovered approximately $1500 in cash and a BB gun pistol.
The initial story told by the manager and another store employee (Ansani SMITH) was that the SMITH was taking out the trash through the back door when he was confronted by an unknown man with a gun . BOZE reportedly put the gun in the victim’s chest and forced him inside the building. Armed with the pistol, BOZE then ordered the manager to give him cash from the safe. The robber then fled the scene on foot.
After investigating the matter, Detective Moore determined that the robbery was staged by BOZE, SMITH, and GRAHAM. SMITH arranged to phone BOZE and SMITH and tell them him when he was taking out the trash, so that they could use that time to stage a robbery. SMITH was not a victim, but a participant.
All three suspects are Detroit residents. Boze and Graham are 19 yrs, and Smith is 18 yrs.
Warrants for Armed Robbery (a life offense) have been issued for all three. They will be arraigned this afternoon at about 3:00.
